Father’s Day, a holiday which honors fathers worldwide, is celebrated in the United States on the third Sunday of June. This year it falls on June 16. It originated in the United States in 1910, a few years after the country began celebrating Mother’s Day. Father’s Day became an official U.S. holiday in 1972. Look for examples of ways that this day can be celebrated other than giving gifts. Try to come up with at least three unique ideas that your family has never tried before.
This year Memorial Day is Monday, May 27. In the U.S. this holiday falls on the last Monday in May. Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who died in service to our country. Here is a word search you can download and print.
In 1981, the First Congressional Resolution proclaimed “Women’s History Week” around the calendar week that included March 8, International Women’s Day. Six years later, Congress expanded this focus to embrace the whole month. In celebration here is a Women’s History Month word search from MCT.
